When Marcus qualified to run in the Boston Marathon in 2013 it seemed a good opportunity to combine the race with some riding down part of the East Coast of The States so we took the bike over with us.
After a few days in Boston that included the Marathon and then all the post bombing shock and some media interviews we took the bus to Provincetown on Cape Cod (it was too early in the year for the ferry). From P-town we rode round Cape Cod, crossed to Martha’s Vineyard, then back to Cape Cod to ride round to Rhode Island for a night in Bristol, RI. We then rode down into Connecticut to take the ferry from New London to Long Island before riding along to Port Jefferson where we caught the train into New York City.
This was our first trip staying with Warm Showers hosts where we could and the experience was thoroughly rewarding so this was something we will definitely try again on future trips. We’ve also since enjoyed hosting guests who have been touring in the UK.

Great blog and the pics are wonderful – but I think it’s not that fun to cycle through New York.?! Enjoy your trips!
Hi Michael, let’s just say riding through new York is ‘an experience’! Glad you’re enjoying the blog.
